Michigan Developers Launch Content Management-Focused Web Company
Switchback aims to give businesses more control over their websites.
Ann Arbor, Michigan, April 2, 2008 – Local web developers announce the launch of Switchback, www.switchbackcms.com, a technology company focused on building websites using open-source content management systems (CMS). The company will combine the talents of Stephen Colson, Michael Hofmockel and Michael Monan, who collectively have more than 30 years of experience in web development and design.
Switchback introduced itself at the Ann Arbor Drupal Users' Group's one year anniversary party on March 31. The company will be sponsoring the group over the course of the year as commitment to the local, open-source development community.
“We’re setting a new standard in web development,” said Colson. “Typically, once your website is built, you have to rely on your developers to keep the content up to date. This is a cycle that frustrates everyone. A CMS changes all that. It lets you take complete control of your website, even with no web programming knowledge.”
Switchback was founded to answer a growing demand for CMS web development. “I have a lot of clients asking specifically for CMS work,” said Christine Slocumb, owner of Clarity Quest Marketing in Ann Arbor, a firm that focuses on marketing for technology companies. “It’s good to know we have such a strong local resource. We are looking forward to partnering with Switchback on upcoming projects.”
Switchback offers an innovative line of services known as SwitchPACKS™—high-demand website features bundled into packages based on typical business needs. Colson explains, “If you need an e-commerce site, you are going to have some basic online requirements that are very different from say, a corporate blog. Our SwitchPACKS are designed as a starting point, based on typical requests we see again and again.”
Based in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Switchback, www.switchbackcms.com, provides small- to medium-sized businesses with the ability to update and maintain their own websites. Using a popular, open-source content management system (CMS) as a development platform, the company builds robust, full-featured websites that, once in place, can be managed by anyone, regardless of their web design experience.
